Rapid Metro

Rapid Metro Rail is a small privately owned metro system in Gurugram that connects to Delhi Metro Network. The aim was to increase ridership of this service. Research FIndings and Challenges To the general user, Rapid Metro is perceived as a break in journey from the last station of delhi metro to the end destination. Even though traffic and uncertainty of time is a negative, they prefer a shared auto due to its last mile connectivity. After exiting the rapid metro stations, crossing the highways to reach end destination creates anxiety. The design challenge here, is to emphasize the benefits of using rapid metro such as on time arrival and temperature controlled commute. Design Approach To focus on ‘control on time’ using ‘certainty’ when using rapid metro, by adding accurate Indicators of time displayed in all signage boards. Heighten the feeling of ‘protection from elements (rain, winter, summer), thus downplaying the negatives of shared auto such as traffic, rain or extreme heat.
